A bride price’ is meant to be the trade for a bride. An equivalent or summation of all that she is.

In Bride Price a woman drags her price through the streets of lagos, opening her worth for all to see, a subversive act to diminish the bride price to extinction.

Why didn't you tell me there was danger? Why didn't you warn me? Ladies know what to guard against, because they read novels that tell them of these tricks; but I never had the chance of discovering in that way, and you did not help me!
