Artist Lecture by Ike Ude

Ike Ude (born 1964) is a Nigerian-American photographer, performance artist, author, publisher, and style icon. He is best known for his conceptual photographic portraits that explore issues of representation and sexual, gender, cultural, and stylistic identity.

Throughout Ude's career, his works have been placed in the permanent collections of various institutions and collections such as The Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Smithsonian National Museum, Washington D.C., the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, Providence, Rhode Island, Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln Nebraska, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, New Britain Museum of American Art, Connecticut, and in numerous private collections. Ude's works have been reviewed with critical acclaim in Art in America, Flash Art, the New York Times, ARTNEWS, The New Yorker and the Wall Street Journal.

Ude has also been included in the Vanity Fair magazine International Best Dress List in 2009, 2012, 2013, and 2015 on the Artsy Editorial list of 10 Masters of the Self-Portrait, and in an NPR interview in March, 2015.

Join us on the 17th October at the Ford Foundation 4pm- 7pm, for an evening of lecture by the eccentric Ike Ude.
